1901 Tennis Championships

As the summer months come to a close, tennis fans in both England and the United States have been privileged to watch world class demonstrations of skill, strength and endurance.  The Wimbledon Gentlemen's Final matched the defending champion against a challenger looking for his first title, while the United States National Championships featured a record breaking championship match.  The results to both tournaments are below.

The History of Baseball: 1891-1900

As the 19th Century came to a close, professional baseball continued to evolve and grow into America's sport.  While the start of the 1890s had many of the traditional teams in a position of power in the National Association, by the close of the decade, there would be a seismic shift that appears may shake the game to its very core.  In between, there were several amazing moments, tremendous players and outstanding teams that gave fans a reason to come to the ballpark every day.

The History of Baseball: 1881-1890

Baseball's second decade showed that the sport was going to be able to evolve and thrive.  New teams reached the top of the National Association, and additional rivalries were born as a result.  The pitching boom of the 1870s evolved into an offensive explosion in the middle of the decade, but there were still several pitchers that found success.  As the 1880s came to a close, it became more certain than ever that baseball had become part of the fabric of the United States, and would continue to be ingrained there for the foreseeable future.
