1904 Tennis Championships

 Hello Everyone!

Just a quick update on the 1904 tennis replay.  Based on the athletes that Time Travel Tennis has available, I have no events to simulate in 1904.  With that being said, here are the results for Wimbledon and the US National Championships.

Wimbledon

Frank Riseley made short work of Major Ritchie in the All Comers' Finals, winning in straight sets.  However, the story was different in the Challenge round, when he faced off against Laurence Doherty.  The defending champion dispatched Riseley with the efficiency and resilience that had made him a champion.  He took down the challenger in straight sets, earning another title and the right to defend again in 1905.

US National Championships

Holcombe Ward and William Clothier faced off in the All Comers' Finals at the US National Championships.  After a marathon first set, which Ward took by a score of 10-8, Ward was able to guide the match towards a normal pace again as he took the second set 6-4.  The third set closely resembled the first, with Ward winning another marathon battle by a score of 9-7.  However, Ward was physically drained for the lengthy battle with Clothier, and was unable to compete in the Challenge Round against defending champion William Larned.  Ward was understandably crestfallen, but it appears as if his best years are still ahead of him.
